Abbotsford Community Celebrates Grand Opening of Local Grocery Store

(October 6, 2011 – Abbotsford, BC) Residents of Abbotsford who’ve been anticipating the opening of the newest Save-On-Foods store on Whatcom Road got a sneak preview of their new local grocery store on Wednesday evening, and they have a lot to be excited about. The 42,000 sq ft store offers some great new shopping options as well as the friendly customer service and broad line-up of products and services that Save-On-Foods is famous for.
“We’re really proud to welcome customers and the entire community to our new store,” said Save-On-Foods Store Manager, Gord Gautier. “And, we’re all so excited to be part of the Save-On-Foods team here in Abbotsford. It’s a beautiful new store and we can’t wait to show it off”
This new store features a variety of cutting-edge technology designed to reduce energy consumption including, a high-efficiency heat recovery and reclaim system that saves enough energy to power 44 homes for a year. featuring sensor-operated high-efficiency lighting in production and freezer areas, a new type of flooring made from renewable resources and a refrigeration system that uses CO2.
“There are lots of new features in this store – but won’t change is our tradition of community involvement. We’re very excited to be working with our neighbours and local schools in helping support our community any way we can. Plus, this is a great opportunity to introduce our newest team members to the Save-On-Foods tradition of being actively involved in our communities and at the same time enriching the shopping experience for our customers.”
